Care of the show coat
A black russian terrier must be structurally sound and in top condition if he is to be shown in the ring. Physical perfections achieved by good food, proper exercise, fresh air and regular grooming over a long period of time.The easiest way to keep you BRT in good condition is to brush and comb the coat regularly. The mistake most owners make is not brushing the hair to the skin. This means parting the coat and holding down the unbrushed hair with your free hand to separate it from the hair that is being brushed. Along with the correct brush and comb, you will need a "Coat Conditioner", a specially formulated product that is sprayedlightly onto the hair before brushing. It makes brushing easier, helps remove tangles, eliminates dryness, and adds a shine to the hair which deepens and enriches the natural coat color

Coat care between shows
To best condition the dog coat, use a light oil. One with protein adds body and eliminates flaking, and helps repair damaged hair, rather than just give an attractive sheen for a few days. Such a conditioner should be used during the brushing process at least twice a week. You can use also a conditioner with mink oil which contains an ultraviolet sunscreen to protect the coat against sun discoloration. Do remember that oil is used only between shows and must be completely shampooed from the hair before a dog is exhibited in the show ring.

4.Besides having a brush regularly, a black russian terrier needs some additional extraction of excessive undercoat.

5. If it is rather easy to extract if you are supposed to use a comb with short prongs.

6. The coat of a BRT with plenty of undercoat should be looked after with great care. You are to comb it out with a special comb called "Coat King"

7. You should use this instrument very carefully, not to pul out too much undercoat

8. Blackies in show coat should be bathed and fluff dried regularly. A shampoo routine is as important as regular brushing because clean hair grows faster and is healthier than dirty hair. Use warm water throughout the shampoo; cold water tends to make the coat limp and hot water activates overactive sebaceous glands.

For washing you should use very good shampoo such as Khara, Lady Belle, Hery, Kosmeo, Crown Royal, Biogroom for hard and black coat.

9. Always keep your dryer set on "Warm", not "Hot". Keep in mind that during the drying process you are pulling and stretching the wet hair. Hair has a great amount of elasticity, but can be overstretched, weakened and damadged by hot air.

10. 10.Then you should cut the hair short (the lower part of the tail, hind hipbone, the back side of the hindquarters and the belly) with the clippers.

11. Using the scissors form the hair like in the picture. Don't forget to hide the drawbacks of the hindquarters if there are some.

12. I would like to notice that there are many different types of grooming but I am describing the type that I like.

14. With the scissors you are to form the prifile of the hindquaters leaving neither short nor long hair

15. If the coat is too long it will be difficult to make a beautuful clip

16. Clip the neck from the base of the ear to the junction of the jaw and the neck and down to the chest bone.

17. With the scissors cut the hair rather short from both side of the neck. Make the line of the hair cut smooth.
